December- February Growing Seedlings, Microgreens, Kale and Leeks

The winter months are for growing seedlings to be transplanted once the last frost date has passed. Zone 7A's last frost date for 2023 is April 23, so seeds will be planted with this date in mind. The seedlings will take from 18 to 22 weeks to grow big enough to transplant, and the heat loving crops such as tomatoes, peppers and eggplants won't be planted out until the ground warms up quite a bit, either late May or June, for a harvest from July to October when the first frost date comes around, about October 23.

Meanwhile, we must content ourselves with microgreens, also sprouted under the grow light.

And, I am hoping that if I cover my beds properly this fall, I will be able to still have leeks and kale growing during next winter, but that will also depend on how severe the winter is.
